ABOUT US

“It's not because it's difficult that we don't try. It's because we don't try, it's difficult.”

Hi, I'm Jen Roberson and I help wedding and portrait photographers attract and keep more clients by giving them the words to say when they don't know where to start.

I've never heard anyone say, "I got into photography so that I could do sales sessions, answer client emails with rude questions and put myself in uncomfortable situations by putting myself out there and marketing my business". You see, most professional photographers get into business because they LOVE photography and they love making images. Many get into professional photography simply to fund their hobby (of course I can buy this $1,500 lens, it's a "business expense") or to take better pictures of their kids.

The weird thing is, I'm pretty much the opposite of most photographers. I LOVE making images, I love new gear and cool tools, and I love taking photos but my kids, but I was an entreprenuer LONG before I ever picked up a camera.

I've worked with my husband to start a martial arts school out of our college, I've run a coffee roasting business, and I've even had half of my living room partitioned off and consumed by my husband's woodworking shop as we made cool photgraphic little artpieces that are too hard to describe (that did not work very well). I learned valuable lessons from each one of those endeavors but the biggest takeaway was "without customers, you're sunk, and if you don't know how to talk to prospects and clients they don't become or stay paying customers".

When my friend Leslie put her used Nikon D60 in my hands for the first time 3 years ago. I was hooked and binge watched every CreativeLIVE class I could attend. Since I was already an entreprenuer, I instantly got sucked into the business mindset of photography and I was thrilled about the possibility of selling my work for a profitable price and creating art. The only problem was I was still a total beginner at photography. It took about 2 years for me to upgrade my gear and feel comfortable enough behind a camera to sell my work, but when I finally got going I soon realized that instead of getting excited about the photoshoots themselves, I was getting excited about creating my marketing promotions, writing customer service responses for other photographers in my photography groups and selling my work. Now at this point, I bet most of you are thinking that I must be wacko, and you're probably right.

I realized that I should do what I was most excited about and what fit my season of life best, so I dropped the portrait photography entirely and shifted my focus to businesses. I knew I was really good at communicating a business' message and I was really excited about the possibility of my clients having MORE money because they worked with me instead of less.

When I started looking for my ideal client, I realized that my favorite people to work with are photographers because I really believe in the value they provide to society and families. To get my first batch of clients, I started out by looking at over 200 photography websites and saw that a lot of photographers were making the same basic mistakes by putting the wrong things on their websites. They were losing clients because they didn't know what information to include (even those with the fancy Showit sites were not immune). I now help photographers connect with more clients by helping them put the right things on their website and say the right things to their clients. I also help a limited number of photographers by actually marketing their business for them.

I would love to serve you and help you get more clients. Check out my article "5 Common Mistakes Photographers Make With Their Website" and get a $10 coupon off a website review by filling out this form here.
